George Dalacouras

He is a graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Business Sciences, an elected M.P. for the period 1974/81 and a Euro M.P. in 1980/81. He is an ex-member of the BOD of the Union of Greek Shipowners, ex-President of the Marine Club of Piraeus, ex-president of ETEBA Bank, ex-Vice Chairman of the Greek committee of Bureau Veritas, member of the BOD of Intercargo, substitute member of BIMCO, member of the World Economic Forum-Davos, as well as, member of many other shipping organisations.

Amongst his other activities, he has acquired in 1988 one of the most prestigious summer resorts, the Akti Myrina Hotel on the island of Lemnos which is successfully managed by his wife, Helen Karakatsanis. She is a graduate of the University of Thessaloniki and they have four children. The eldest, daughter Katerina Dalacoura, is a Lecturer at the London School of Economics. Their three sons are all graduates of McGill University, Canada and are presently involved in shipping. The eldest, Dimitris Dalacouras is director of Conbulk Shipping.

Vassilis Dalacouras is director of Dalex Shipping, a founding member of the Union of Maltese Shipowners and a representative in the Union of Greek Shipowners. And the youngest son Michalis Dalacouras, MICS is a member of the BOD of HELMEPA and involved in the technical aspects of both companies.
